The next game from Envision Entertainment, Pioneers of Pagonia, has been anticipated by city-builder fans for some time now. Today, developer Envision Entertainment has announced that Pioneers of Pagonia will enter early access on December 13, 2023, with a closed alpha test beginning in September and followed by a public demo in October.
German game studio Envision Entertainment is bringing a unique cartoon-ish look to the Medieval City-Builder style of games that have become more popular recently. Don’t let the brighter visuals fool you, the developer is boasting civilizations filled with a populace that is deeply individual to their place in the deep economic system, with Pioneers of Pagonia boasting 40 buildings and 70 wares at launch.

Players who are at Gamescom can try the game out for themselves, as it will be available at the Indie Arena Booth in Hall 10 at Gamescom 2023. It’s also competing for the “Most Wholesome” game award at the convention due to the Pioneers of Pagonia having more of an emphasis on diplomacy through unification as opposed to creating a war with your neighbors.
Not only will players need to manage the resources and happiness of their people, but they will also need to find the best way to navigate the conflicting factions to help their society prosper. Players will constantly need to adapt to new threats posed by the world, but persistence can lead to the unification of all of Pagonia.
