Pokémon Go has officially named the next season, and it’ll be called the “Season of Go”, which will include a variety of fests and a new character.
Here’s the official tweet, which you might just have to see to believe such an obvious name:
Although the name of the upcoming season is a little disappointing, the game was originally created to get people moving about, and this is probably just a celebration that in-person events are back.
Pokémon Go Fest 2022 will be available on June 4th and 5th, both lasting from 10 AM to 6 PM local time. The overall Season of Go is going to begin earlier on June 1st, 10 AM, and it’ll run through September 1st.
New Battle League details
Expect the typical reset and season rewards on June 1st at 1 PM PDT. The first highlight of the new season is a GO Battle Day featuring Mankey. Evolving them during the event will get your Primeape an exclusive move.
Some rank-up encounters will include other Gen 1 classics like Machamp and Pikachu. However, the Pikachu will be a special “Libre” variant with a wrestling costume, which is downright adorable. Luckily, fans can also expect their avatars to have a matching Libre costume and pose.
There will be 11 new cups, including a Kanto and Retro Cup for old school fans. There’ll even be a GO Fest edition, where players can only use Pokémon caught during the GO Fest Weekend on July 9th, 2022.
June content breakdown
Next month will be pretty exciting, as fans can expect an official tie-in with the Trading Card Game! Fossils and rock-type Pokémon will also show up in the second week, for an “Adventure Week” theme. Similarly, a Mega Aerodactyl will be one of the available Mega Raids.
Mewtwo, arguably the most famous legendary Pokémon, will also return to raids with the faces of Gen III, Kyogre and Groudon. Any chance to capture a shiny Mewtwo is bound to invite new and old players alike.
As usual, different Pokémon will appear and hatch this season, and you can find the complete list on the game’s official blog post here.
