The launch date for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is just around the corner, on November 18th, 2022. There have been more than a few trailers, revealing lots of new and returning Pokémon.

The sheer volume has been pretty surprising. It’s probably spoiled as much as Sword and Shield did though. The last month has had multiple reveals, including the reveal for Farigiraf and even back-to-back trailers presented as in-game livestreams for Bellibolt and Iono.

The highlight of today’s trailer is surely the intriguing form of Donphan, the beloved Ground type of Gen II that evolves from an adorable elephant-like Phanpy.

There are only a few teases for what Donphan will turn into in Pokémon Scarlet, but an in-game sketch of the whole design suggests that this will be an in-game mystery. Either way, fans are definitely pleased with the art design, praising it as a natural elaboration that follows up Donphan’s tough look.

There are also more than a few Terastral forms that we haven’t seen before. The Dragapult form looks pretty convoluted, but it also makes sense, given that Dreepy always gains more copies of itself throughout the evolution chain.

It’s a little strange that Scizor has a chandelier on its head, being part bug, despite also being part steel. But then, the Terastral forms seem like a wild card so far, adding giant diamonds onto Gengar.

The Ed Sheeran song, appropriately named “Celestial”, matches the sentimental and upbeat mood of the games. You can read more about Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, as well as other games in the franchise, by following our news section!
