The developers of Quantum Error, TeamKill Media, recently announced that the game’s PlayStation 4 version will no longer be released. The decision, shared via a tweet, came after developers deemed the difference in quality between the PS5 and PS4 versions too great to provide a fair experience for all players.
TeamKill Media stated in the announcement: “Unfortunately, we are going to have to cancel the PS4 version of QE. Even with the game being made from the beginning for the PS5, we still had hopes we could make a PS4 version happen, but with the level of quality we have achieved with QE with gameplay running at 60fps, we have reached the conclusion that there is no way for us to deliver a version on PS4 that would live up to what the PS5 is going to deliver. A PS4 version would require too much downgrading and changing of assets, lighting, and much more to function, and with the difference in memory and the slower HDD speed, it would be a very different experience that will not compare to the PS5 version and would not be fair to PS4 players.”
Quantum Error, a cosmic-horror first-person shooter, unfolds in the Monad Quantum Research Facility, 30 miles off California’s shore. The facility is subjected to an attack from an unknown entity, triggering a full containment lockdown and a distress call sent to the Garboa Fire Department in San Francisco, CA.
In the game, players are cast as Capt. Jacob Thomas, sent alongside partner Shane Costa and a crew by helicopter to the besieged Monad Facility. Initially tasked with saving as many lives from the fire-engulfed facility as possible, the mission takes a chilling turn when they arrive and discover that things are not as they appear.
The PS4 cancellation notwithstanding, Quantum Error will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. The game promises an immersive and thrilling experience as players navigate the unnerving challenges thrown at them.
