Quantum Error, the upcoming sci-fi horror shooter from TeamKill Media, has just released a new gameplay trailer showcasing exactly how PlayStation 5 features will improve immersion.

Quantum Error recently announced a launch date for November 3rd, 2023. It will be exclusively available on PlayStation 5, although the bio in the game’s official Twitter account mentions that PC and Xbox ports are “TBA”. PlayStation 5’s haptic abilities have always been impressive, but it’s especially neat to see how devs continue to incorporate them into basic gameplay loops.

Quantum Error has a terrific premise centered on firefighters, which should help keep the action grounded as the narrative expands into hardcore sci-fi territory. But it also presents a very unique trade, with interesting tools and skills that are natural complements for haptic feedback.

To begin with, 60FPS is always in high demand for PlayStation 5 titles. Fans are often frustrated when games settle for less, especially with next-gen releases.

Broader actions like prying a door open or wielding the K12 saw should be greatly improved by adaptive triggers. But the neatest feature is arguably the CPR, which makes use of your DualSense controller microphone, though buttons are still usable if you don’t have one. Using your own breath would definitely create a tangible sense of urgency.

Imaginative details like this are definitely going to justify the PlayStation 5 exclusivity. It would be hard to imagine the gameplay experience any other way. This would help explain why the PlayStation 4 version of Quantum Error was eventually cancelled. The immersive aspects are almost akin to VR, and TeamKill Media could easily pursue that avenue later on.
