Questline Mage Decks – Post Nerf Stormwind

We're featuring the best Hearthstone Quest Mage deck for Standard that you can use to get to the top of the legend ladder!

When you think about the Mage class in Hearthstone, you generally think about spells. Well, for the United in Stormwind expansion, you have the opportunity to run a deck that specializes in slinging fire, frost, and arcane at your opponent and their minions. The benefit to building a deck in this fashion is the new quest, Sorcerer’s Gambit. If you can make it through the questline, you will be rewarded with Arcanist Dawngrasp, who has the card text, “Battlecry: For the rest of the game, you have Spell Damage +3.” That bonus will make you a spellcasting powerhouse!

The sticking point on this style of deck will be if you can get the spells you need to complete the quest. Each part of the questline requires that you cast a fire, frost, and arcane spell. This can be tricky because you might just not draw one of the spells that you need. The deck build is going to require that you have the ability to cycle through your cards, and/or create opportunities for you to select the spell types that you need during your turn. If this can be done, the reward is pretty powerful and will allow you to burn down your opponent!

Keep in mind that you should be very careful about crafting any new cards or decks when a new Hearthstone expansion is released. The power level of decks is hard to predict, and a list might be powerful one day and weak the next. The meta is always evolving in the early stages of an expansion release, so consider waiting before making any decks if you’re on a budget!

Devolving Missiles Version

If you want a more simplistic version of this archetype then this one cuts a lot of the singles and doubles up most of the other cards in the deck. The only big difference is the addition of Devolving Missiles to slow down the board.

Hot Streak Version (Cheap!)

This version of the deck is seeing a lot of play and is quite cheap because it only has one Legendary card and two Epics! The list is fairly similar to the other ones, but it runs Hot Streak, where the other lists do not.
