Railway Empire 2 is an upcoming sequel to the 2018 title, developed by Gaming Minds Studios and published by Kalypso Media. It is a railroad construction and management simulation game built upon all the best features of its predecessor and includes bigger, more detailed, and more dynamic maps than ever before.
Recently, Kalypso Media announced that Railway Empire 2 will be released on May 25th, 2023 with Xbox Game Pass for console and PC and will be available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles as well as on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It will also be released on Nintendo Switch later this year.
Railway Empire 2 is set in the year 1830, at the dawn of the age of railways. Players are tasked with taking over a small train company and select from expansive maps spanning either Europe or North America, as well as more detailed regional maps with more than 300 towns dispersed throughout both continents.
As clever entrepreneurs, players must expand their railway company to become the largest on the continent and outmaneuver their rivals as they connect cities and businesses with an ever-expanding network of rail lines, bridges, and tunnels. The player has access to 60 of history’s most renowned steam engines, all of which are capable of hauling both freight and passenger cars as they usher in a period of historical significance throughout the Industrial Revolution.
Apart from expansive maps, Railway Empire 2 features improved track construction, and real-time terraforming, providing a genuine railway management experience. In addition, it includes a 5-chapter campaign, 14 scenarios, a customizable free-play mode, and a construction mode. Players may also team up with fellow tycoons in the cooperative multiplayer mode, which supports up to four players.
You may add Railway Empire 2 to your Steam wishlist now to be alerted when it becomes available for PC.
