Developer and publisher Sabotage Studio has announced the upcoming release of its turn-based RPG, Sea of Stars.
Sea of Stars promise to deliver a modern take on the retro-style RPG with its turn-based combat, storytelling, exploration, and interactions with the environment, while still providing a healthy dose of nostalgia and good, old-fashioned fun. Recently, Sabotage Studio announced in a new trailer that Sea of Stars is slated to launch on August 29th for PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation4, PlayStation5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
Sea of Stars follows the story of two Children of the Solstice who will combine the powers of the sun and moon to perform Eclipse Magic. Their journey will lead them to meet and defeat the monstrous creations of the malevolent alchemist, known as The Fleshmancer.
In Sea of Stars, players will engage in turn-based combat, utilizing an action button that when pressed in sync with the animations, increases damage output while reducing incoming damage. Furthermore, the game features multi-character combo attacks, boosting, and a strategic “locks” system offering options to play with different damage types to hinder enemies while they are channeling powerful attacks or spells.
In addition, Sea of Stars boasts a navigation system inspired by platformers, enabling players to swim, climb, vault, and traverse ledges with fluidity, deviating from the traditional grid-based movement. There are also dozens of original characters and story arcs that will take players on an epic, humorous, and emotionally charged journey.
For those who want to take a break from the action, Sea of Stars offers various relaxing activities. Players may indulge in sailing, cooking, fishing, stopping by a tavern to listen to a song, or playing the infamous tabletop game known as “Wheels.”
You may add Sea of Stars to your PlayStation Store, Steam, and Nintendo eShop wishlist now to be notified when it becomes available. Nintendo Switch players can also try out a demo of the game, while demos for other platforms will be available at a later date.
