With the recent release of Ahri’s ASU, Riot Games (developer of League of Legends and Wild Rift) has begone work on the next big ASU, dropping a ton of information on what we can expect from the next champion update.
For those who don’t know, ASU stands for Art and Sustainability Update. As opposed to a full rework, an ASU focuses only on a champion’s appearance; They exist to bring some of League’s aging but beloved champions up to date with new releases visually, updating their model across all skins and often replacing their spell icons and effects to be more visually stunning.
As we previously covered, in a recent update video Riot Brightmoon explained that the dev team is attempting to speed up the release of art and sustainability updates by starting work on the next two at the same time. As announced in the same video, the two next ASU champs are Teemo and Lee Sin, who perhaps need it more than any others.
Spideraxe, a game designer and moderator of Surrender@20, recently tweeted out some information gathered from comments made by Rioters on r/LeagueofLegends. In addition to some information on new game modes, it was shared that Riot TenPaces will be the narrative writer on Teemo’s ASU.
Narrative writers work on everything involved with League’s characters and the world they live in. In the context of Teemo’s ASU, TenPaces will be handling Teemo’s voice lines and updated bio. His story is also likely to receive an update, as the dated champion has sort of lost his place in the current League world.
TenPaces is a seasoned narrative writer, with experience writing dialogue for League’s skins. In particular, they are the writer behind the legendary skins Star Guardian Akali, High Noon Leona, Dawnbringer Yone, Battle Bunny Miss Fortune, and more.
Lee Sin’s writer has yet to be announced.
