Roblox Down on May 4th – “Noob” Avatars Showing in Games

On May 4th, 2023, Roblox started to experience loading issues and players who enter experiences are not dressed in their custom avatar items. Characters in game are mostly appearing as “noob” or “default”, with the standard yellow body, blue shirt, and green pants. It’s unclear what is causing the issue, but for now it’s best to wait to until it clears up before engaging in any type of purchases that might get messed up due to technical issues.

Update (1:30pm PT): Looks like players are now being kicked from experiences. The Roblox Status page mentions that they are still looking to resolve issues with the Avatar service.

Update (9:30am PT): It appears the issue is primarily to do with the Avatar service. Roblox developers are currently aware of the issue, according to the Roblox Status Page, and are working to “remediate” the issue.

Do not be concerned that you might have lost your cosmetic items for your character. This is very likely just a temporary issue that will be cleared up soon. You should still have all of your items, they just won’t appear properly when you load into an experience!

When Roblox is experiencing issues, it is always best to just not play any game where you are concerned about information being saved. You will also want to avoid spending any Robux, just in case something happens with your transaction. If you must play during issues, play something just for fun!
