Roblox Corporation, has released its key metrics for March 2023, demonstrating notable growth in key metrics. Daily active users (DAUs) reached 66.2 million, marking a 26% year-over-year increase. Simultaneously, hours engaged rose by 26%, totaling 4.8 billion.
In terms of financial performance, estimated revenue ranged between $212 million and $223 million, which is an increase of 15% to 21% compared to the previous year. Estimated bookings showed growth as well, ranging between $247 million and $255 million, a 23% to 27% year-over-year increase. Meanwhile, estimated average bookings per daily active user (ABPDAU) experienced a minor change, ranging between $3.73 and $3.85, representing a -2% to +1% year-over-year change.
The impact of foreign currency fluctuations resulted in approximately a 2% reduction in the year-over-year growth rate for both revenue and bookings for March 2023. On a constant currency basis, the estimated revenue growth for March 2023 would have been between 16% and 22%, bookings growth would have been between 25% and 29%, and the change in year-over-year ABPDAU would have been between -1% and 3%.
Roblox calculates constant currency by converting current period revenue, bookings, and ABPDAU into U.S. dollars using the prior period’s monthly exchange rates for non-USD currencies, rather than the actual average exchange rates in effect during the current period. This adjustment allows for a clearer assessment of the company’s performance, excluding the effect of foreign currency rate fluctuations.
The company also announced that this will be its last monthly metric release. Having published monthly key metrics for its first eight quarters as a public company, Roblox has decided to cease providing key monthly metrics to align its reporting cadence with the company’s long-term view. Quarterly key metrics will continue to be published, coinciding with the company’s other quarterly disclosures, such as shareholder letters and publications.
