Sengoku Dynasty, an upcoming open world RPG and colony sim from developer Superkami and publisher Toplitz Productions, will officially launch into Early Access on August 10th, 2023. According to a new post on Steam, it will roll out “in the afternoon/evening hours CEST”.
Sengoku Dynasty will be available on PC via Steam, where you can wishlist the game now. A new release date teaser was posted on the Toplitz Productions YouTube channel today, featuring a variety of crafting:
Although Sengoku Dynasty doesn’t reveal much more than previous trailers in today’s new footage, the devs are currently rolling out an in-depth series about essential buildings, called Pillars of the Rising Sun.
The opening episode began the first week of July, and focused on Bell Towers. These structures aren’t just decorative, as they do tie into core gameplay mechanics, so there will be a lot to explore.
The Early Access release date will arrive a little sooner than expected, and the game is already shaping up nicely. Although the animations look a little stiff, the environments, structures and outfits have solid details. It’ll be more important for the game to function, and EA gives it plenty of time to grow.
The theme naturally provides compelling visuals, and all of the cultural influence has resulted in some very unique crafting. Today’s trailer concentrates on selling two things: the theme, and the co-op. City builders don’t generally care about co-op, but it fits with the open world RPG mechanics.
Players can still sim alone, but exploring and building with someone else in this particular world could be a lot of fun. The Steam page confirms that players can complete quests and progress together, in addition to the basic sim mechanics. Hopefully the devs are planning some console ports, and even cross-platform support, to really connect friends in a world this engaging.
