The continuation of the Silent Hill franchise has been officially announced by Konami, promising several forthcoming projects in the works.

Earlier, Konami held a live event to announce the return of the Silent Hill franchise with several new projects. To start things off, Konami released the first trailer for their highly anticipated remake of Silent Hill 2 which is developed by Bloober Team, notable for The Medium, Layers of Fear, and Observer. Developers are certain that they will be able to revive the aspects that made the game a cult classic as they have a “great deal of respect” for the original.

Likewise, players will take the role of James Sunderland in the Silent Hill 2 remake. James travels to Silent Hill, where he and his late wife shared fond memories, in the hopes of reuniting with her. The remake will enable gamers to experience a psychological survival horror with chilling visuals and visceral audio on the latest platforms. As of now, Konami has yet to reveal the release date of the Silent Hill 2 remake, although it is expected to be accessible on PlayStation 5 and Steam at an undefined time in the future. It is touted as a one-year exclusive for PlayStation consoles, implying that it will be accessible on Xbox one year after its original release.

The next game shown off during the Silent Hill Transmission livestream was Silent Hill Townfall. It was developed by No Code, the same studio responsible for Stories Untold and Observation, in collaboration with Annapurna Interactive. There is still some uncertainty around Silent Hill Townfall, but fans may anticipate more information to be revealed next year. In addition, Return to Silent Hill, a brand-new film in the Silent Hill series, was also announced. Christophe Gans, who directed the 2006 cinematic version of Silent Hill, returns for the new film. Silent Hill Ascension, a brand-new chapter in the Silent Hill franchise, was also revealed and was marketed as a “live, real-time interactive series.”
