The update rolls out tomorrow on April 11th, 2023, at 2 PM. It will feature a weapon and skin pack called “Death from Above”, a free no-cross map, a buff for the classic Mosin Nagant sniper rifle, and more.

No Cross mode is the ultimate sniping test, making it a fan favorite for intense competition. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a lot of content right now, so new maps for the mode are always welcome.

The new map will pit an industrial setting against a natural environment, The former will provide more cover, while the latter will have better lines of sight. That sounds like the new map could have a larger balancing gap than usual. But the visual contrast between both sides of the map is a fun idea.

The Mosin Nagant buff may seem like a trivial change for some, but that weapon in particular has been a staple of the series since the original game. It has been pretty strange to feel the weapon undergo changes, so it’s a relief to see that its muzzle velocity and damage are expected to match previous iterations.

Despite all of the new content, perhaps one of the most exciting prospects in today’s trailer was the dedicated server tease. Servers play a major role in any game. But they’re especially important in shooters like Sniper Elite, where excellent timing and accuracy are fundamental win conditions. Locking servers to specific game modes should make a smoother experience.
