Star Wars: Hunters has rolled out a lot of character teasers over recent months, but the developers have just decided to delay the worldwide release until 2023. There has been no official release date for the new launch.

Here’s the official announcement from Zynga, explaining that they simply wanted to make Star Wars: Hunters “the best it can be”:

Star Wars continues to be one of the most bankable IPs on any screen, but Battlefront II is still one of the few outright shooters that fans can play for quick combat and action. And for all of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga’s success, it’s an entirely different experience that leans toward humor.

For now, Star Wars fans are mainly looking to the future, with the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel and some new voices.

So, Star Wars: Hunters would have filled the gap. It’s expected to release for the Nintendo Switch as well mobile devices. It will be a team-based arena game, set after the fall of the Galactic Empire. Players can use several different characters, each with their own abilities and roles.

For example, just last month Zynga released gameplay footage of a Droideka speedster called “Slingshot”, using their ultimate ability “Rocket Stop” as seen here:

Overall, the game seems to offer a fun cross between traditional arena shooters and some MOBA elements, with plenty of fan service and kid-friendly art design.

Most fans have looked forward to Star Wars: Hunters, even as a smaller title, and responded with understanding.

Zynga’s announcement is one of many delays across the industry that’s finally realized their fans appreciate honesty. Most of the statements sound very similar, recognizing the disappointment fans will have and promising better game quality, just like Sea of Stars stated a couple weeks ago.

But it is generally worthwhile to delay a game that isn’t truly ready. You can read about more Star Wars: Hunters updates by following our news section!
