ConcernedApe, the creator behind the beloved Stardew Valley, has confirmed the upcoming 1.6 update for the game. The update will primarily focus on modding enhancements, making it easier and more powerful for modders to create content. However, fans can also expect some new game content, albeit less than what was offered in the 1.5 update.
In a recent statement, ConcernedApe shared their current focus on the 1.6 update: “It’s mostly changes for modders (which will make it easier & more powerful to mod). But there is also new game content, albeit much less than 1.5. I’m taking a break from Haunted Chocolatier to work on this at the moment. Then back to HC.”
The creator has also reassured fans that they will continue to work on their future project, Haunted Chocolatier, once the 1.6 update is complete. This upcoming game is set to explore more fantastical possibilities and experiences, featuring magical haunted ghost chocolate as a central theme. Despite its ghostly setting, ConcernedApe maintains that the game will be positive, uplifting, and life-affirming, channeling the energy of the moon in contrast to Stardew Valley’s sun.
With the release of the long-awaited 1.5 update for Android and iOS earlier this year, 2023 could potentially see another significant patch rollout for the game. In response to a question on Twitter regarding future updates for Stardew Valley, ConcernedApe hinted that they are unlikely to ever officially close the book on updates, saying, “I don’t know if I will ever officially “close the book” on Stardew updates. If the past is any guide, there will likely be more updates.”
Stardew Valley is available on various platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PC, and mobile devices. As fans eagerly await the arrival of the 1.6 update and the mysterious Haunted Chocolatier, it is clear that ConcernedApe continues to captivate gamers with their engaging and immersive worlds.
