In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, while you’re working through the main story and collecting all the Pokemon you can, you’ll come across Technical Machines, which allows players to learn recipes to teach their Pokemon new moves. It can get overwhelming trying to remember where resources and recipes are, though. If you need to know how to get Steel Beam, we have all the possible locations to find the TM recipe, including a list of resources you’ll need.
Steel Beam TM170 Location – How to get it
You can find Steel Beam TM in North Province (Area Three). Once you have this move, you will be able to teach the Steel Beam to your Pokemon, which has the effect of: “The user fires a beam of steel that it collected from its entire body. This also damages the user.” As many TMs are found in the world of Paldea, be on the lookout for Yellow Poke Balls!
Here are the stats for Steel Beam:
| Type | Category | PP | Power | Accuracy |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Steel | Special | 5 | 140 | 95 |

Steel Beam TM Recipe – How to make it
To craft Steel Beam, you will need the following resources: 14000 LP, 8x Magnemite Screw, 5x Orthworm Tarnish and 3x Cufant Tarnish. Once you have the recipe, you’ll be able to craft the recipe at any Pokemon Center’s TM Machine as long as you have the required resources to do so.
Tip: If you need more League Points (LP), remember that you can trade in materials you won’t be using to the TM Machine in exchange for LP. You can also receive LP for interacting with Tera Raid Dens (they look like large, sparkling crystals). Sparkling Pokemon will give you LP when defeated or caught.
| Required Resource | Location |
|---|---|
| 14000 LP | Trade in unused materials w/TM Machine, defeat Sparkling Pokemon, interact with Tera Raid Dens |
| 8x Magnemite Screw | Drops from Magnemite and Magneton (map) |
| 5x Orthworm Tarnish | Drops from Orthworm (map) |
| 3x Cufant Tarnish | Drops from Cufant and Copperajah (map) |
