The Last Spell, the tactical turn-based RPG and roguelite from indie developer Ishtar Games, is officially getting new DLCs next year. According to a new blog posted today, multiple DLCs will be released in 2024, each featuring their own unique theme.
The blog remains vague about just how many DLCs fans should expect, how early in the year they would roll out, and what kind of content they’ll include. The Last Spell recently launched in March 2023 and is available now on PC via Steam.
Most recently, The Last Spell also expanded its universe with the announcement of a board game adaptation. If the board game is successful, then all of the upcoming DLC for the source material could also be worked into expansions for the tabletop experience too. You can watch a trailer for the board game on the Ishtar Games YouTube channel:
The Last Spell has done a fine job of working out enjoyable twists on some oversaturated genres, but it’s the world that makes it so appealing. The dark fantasy attitude is defined and explored well, with a fitting soundtrack that would thrive on its own.
Fans have also widely praised The Last Spell’s balanced gameplay. It walks a fine line of difficulty that allows you to fail without discouraging you from adapting and succeeding in the end. While the game was in Early Access, it required a lot of tuning, so hopefully the DLCs will have a consistent level of quality.
It’s a shame that the devs have shared so little about the DLCs, other than plans to release them. But today’s announcement does confirm that The Last Spell will have an expansive future of dedicated content.
