Super Mario Bros. Wonder introduces a new enemy in the form of a Snail. These snails act a lot like Koopa Troopas but they can hang onto the sides of walls. Below, we’ll show you how you can grab their shells and carry them around.

How to pick up Big shells in Super Mario Bros. Wonder

The Snails in Super Mario Bros. Wonder will give up their shells if you jump on them. From there you can just pick the large Shell up by using Y only if you are an elephant, small shells have no requirement. For more specific instructions:

  1. Jump on a Snail from above to stun it.
    1. The slug will fly right out of the shell.
  2. Press the Y button to pick up the Snail shell.
  3. Press the Y button again to throw the Snail.

Remember, this will only work if you are an elephant since snail shells are big. If you want to throw regular size snail shell, then they can be any size.

Use the Snail shell to attack enemies, clear obstacles, or jump to higher platforms. Alternatively, you can just hit it like any other enemy shell and it will fly forward. Snail shells can also be used to jump to higher platforms. To do this, simply throw a Snail shell at the platform and then jump on top of it.

We have seen some players accidentally knock shells away, and we have a solution. Instead of waiting for the button to press Y, hold it as you get closer to the shell. This will get your character to pick it up as soon as they’re close enough. This doesn’t always work, so you may need to just repeatedly press the button until you see Mario grab the shell.

We recommend getting used to the timing if grabbing shells is difficult for you.
