The Spirit and the Mouse, a cute puzzle platformer from developer Alblune and publisher Armor Games Studios, will officially launch onto PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on July 20th, 2023, according to a new tweet posted today.

The Spirit and the Mouse originally launched in September 2022. It is available now on PC and the Nintendo Switch, where the game also released a limited physical edition back in April. Although US PlayStation socials haven’t posted about the upcoming port yet, the PlayStation Japan YouTube channel has a new trailer for the release:

It has been a delight to watch an indie like The Spirit and the Mouse expand into new platforms. It has a touch of fantasy and lots of charm, as well as a unique theme that nods to another familiar rodent.

Aside from being absolutely adorable, the game is both streamlined and clever. The Spirit and the Mouse encourages players to explore and relax, but its puzzles are compelling. The devs meticulously weave in a variety of story-driven obstacles, which are highly thematic. They consistently make the most of the game’s premise about electrical powers.

The Spirit and the Mouse is fairly comparable to the classic platformers that influenced it. Platformers are often fun on the go, and this game certainly aims for a relaxing tone. However, it’ll be fun to see how The Spirit and the Mouse benefits from a next-gen console port.

This is also an indie that really deserves to be added onto a subscription service. Hopefully, there will be an Xbox port on the way soon, to support all major platforms. Although the graphics show their budget, the visuals are inventive and cozy.
