Rogue-likes are a dime a dozen, but it’s rare that one catches the attention of a larger community the way Hades did, with players still finding new ways to engage with the game. One specific run in the title, known as the Hades 64 Heat Unseeded, was previously thought to be unbeatable due to the difficulty, but one user has seemingly beaten it to the surprise of everyone.

The run was beaten by a user on YouTube who goes by Jade and looks to have taken around 30 minutes to completely best. It’s unclear how or if this will be verified, but it’s certainly impressive that it has been beaten when some users were speculating that it was unbeatable just a week ago. It is considered especially difficult due to the highest level of heat, but Jade took that as a beatable challenge.

The 64 Heat in the challenge name refers to the heat gauge in Hades, which serves as the difficulty meter of the game when players are able to set custom parameters. It’s the hardest the game can be unmodded, so many expected that it was completely unbeatable by anyone without altering the game. As usual, this was likely shared in Hades fan communities, which answered the challenge in force.

Not only were they able to beat the game mode, but they did so in half an hour. For a mode that was considered unbeatable in a game that is difficult on its own, it’s incredibly impressive that someone was able to accomplish this in such a short amount of time.

Hi Christian, very cool to see an article about this! So first of all, thanks for shining a light on this enormous feat.

Some context and corrections: Jade AKA Angel1c has been a Hades runner for over 2 years. She has over 3000 hours of experience running the game, most of which is high heat. She has held high heat world records for every single aspect (weapon variations, of which 24 exist) in the game, at the same time. The run being “only” around 30 minutes is expected. A run in Hades typically takes top level players about 13-17 minutes, but that’s on speedrun difficulty (read: low difficulty settings focussed around going faster). 64 heat has a built-in time constraint in which you will take damage for every second you go over the timer. The timer is 5 minutes per biome and any leftover time gets carried over, meaning you have 20 minutes to complete a run. This timer is based on in game time. The in game timer pauses during menus, shopping, chamber loads and many more. That’s why on the end screen the run is shown below 20 minutes, but the real time is ~30.

The run she did here wasn’t the first unseeded run she completed, but the first unseeded AND unmodded run to be cleared. She is one of two people in the world to have cleared a modded unseeded run. Her modded run was 13 days ago, but took over a year of grinding. Modded 64 heat is how she honed her skills to be able to do this unmodded as well. The gameplay and difficulty is similar, but the RNG is much tougher in unmodded. This run was 1 in a million but sometimes you just get the run! The run has been verified by other high heat players to be legit and there are a boatload of reasons this run is very unlikely to be faked, most of which wouldn’t really say much if you are not too familiar with high level hades or hades modding so I’ll leave that out for now, but if you want some more details and info, don’t hesitate to send me an email!

    Cheers,
