The Shinigami ability is a limited-time power available during the Halloween event. Obtaining it requires a combination of questing and boss battles. Prepare for a challenging but rewarding journey to unlock the power of the Shinigami.

How to Get Shinigami Ability in A Universal Time

Obtaining the Inhumane Spirit

To begin your quest for the Shinigami ability, locate the Distinguished Wolf NPC at the plaza. He will guide you on a multi-step quest, with the “Inhumane Spirit” item as a reward. The steps include:

  1. The Key to the Quest: The Distinguished Wolf’s first task involves finding a Chest Key, an 4-star epic item found within chests. So kill some mods to get some chests to appear.
    • Purple chests and higher have a greater chance of containing this key.
      • It may take you ages to get the Crates Key or you may get lucky and get it in a few tries.
  1. Defeating Enemies: Once you’ve delivered the Chest Key to the wolf, he’ll assign a new quest called ‘Mysterious Chest’ that require defeating specific enemies:
    • Defeat Zombies [0/25]
      • Found at Joestar Mansion, accessed via the boat NPC at the port
    • Defeat Prisoners [0/25]
      • Found at Joestar Mansion, accessed via the boat NPC at the port
    • Defeat Hooligans [0/100]
      • Located in the park area
    • Defeat Vampires [0/50]
      • Located on the Halloween map, accessible by interacting with the orange NPC called “Bawx” at the plaza. Note: the Halloween map has day and night modes.
    • Defeat Thugs [0/75]
      • Commonly found around the plaza and on the roads

Completing all enemy-defeating tasks return back to the wolf who rewards you with the Inhumane Spirit.

Obtaining the Cursed Apple – Facing the Hollow Raid Boss

The second key item required to craft the Shinigami ability is the Cursed Apple. This item is a drop from the Level 300 Hollow boss, a raid boss that spawns every hour of server time inside the church on the Halloween map. The drop chance is 50%, so it may take a while or first try.

Crafting Shinigami

Once you have both the Inhumane Spirit (from the Distinguished Wolf’s quest) and the Cursed Apple (from the Hollow boss), you can craft the Shinigami ability. Remember, this is an event-exclusive ability, much like the Candy Cutlass, so obtain it before the event ends, as it may become unobtainable afterward. The Shinigami ability has a unique appearance, visual effects, and a Soul system mechanic.
