A new detail has emerged regarding the release of the upcoming first-person shooter survival horror video game, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
A few days ago, speculations about the potential release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 later this year had been circulating. This rumor stemmed from reports suggesting that a digital storefront had listed the game’s release date as December 31st. However, the credibility of this leak has come into question, as the indicated release date seems more likely to be a placeholder. Adding to the intrigue, an updated press kit for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 recently surfaced, stating that the game will launch on PC and Xbox Series X|S in the first quarter of 2024.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has faced numerous setbacks since its initial announcement way back in 2010. In 2018, the game resurfaced with the development restarted and powered by Unreal Engine 5. Initially scheduled for release on December 8, 2022, the game’s development was put on hold due to the ongoing war in Ukraine. Eventually, the development team shared via their official Discord server that work on the game was back in progress, targeting a 2023 release. However, the latest revelations seem to indicate yet another postponement for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
GSC Game World has not yet made any official announcement on their social channels regarding a further delay in the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. Meanwhile, the Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, shared during Xbox’s Gamescom booth that the final touches are already being applied to the game. While the current circumstances may have led to some uncertainty, fans are advised to take the information from the updated press kit with a grain of salt, as potential changes to the release schedule are not out of the question.
On an exciting note, GSC Game World is introducing the demo version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 today at Gamescom 2023, allowing attendees of the event to get a taste of some of the thrilling content that the game has in store.
