Over three months have passed since Valorant launched Episode 7 Act 1, which brought the new Agent, Deadlock, a Norwegian operative and the latest addition to the Sentinel roster. With the release of the final Act of Episode 7 drawing closer, fans eagerly anticipate the announcement of the next Agent set to debut in Valorant later this year.
Apart from Deadlock, Valorant players were also introduced to Gekko and his crew of calamitous creatures earlier this year. Riot Games has previously stated that three new Agents will be released in 2023, featuring an Initiator, a Sentinel, and one Agent with an undisclosed class. As of now, only the latter remains unannounced.
In a surprising moment, Riot Games has shared a new “State of the Agents” clip, shedding light on their plans for the Valorant Agent roster for the rest of the year. The developer acknowledged the community’s feedback on Deadlock, with many finding her current state underwhelming, and promised to work on her areas that need improvement. Before ending the State of the Agents video, Riot Games finally disclosed that the next Agent would be a Duelist. Accompanying this announcement was an intriguing image portraying a hand, presumably belonging to the new Agent, holding a chopstick and taking part in an Asian barbecue feast.
Valorant is celebrated for its diverse roster, representing various cultures and backgrounds from around the world. With the image’s focus on Asian cuisine, speculations have arisen that the upcoming Duelist Agent might originate from East Asia—potentially Japan, Korea, or China. However, it is worth noting that Valorant has already featured Agents from East Asia, including Yoru, Sage, and Jett. Riot Games may be planning to introduce an Agent with a similar background to these existing characters.
In any case, the Valorant community eagerly awaits the introduction of the new Duelist Agent and looks forward to its contribution to the tactical hero shooter experience. For now, fans can only wait for more details to be revealed later this year.
