Voodolls, an upcoming cooperative tower defense game from developer SideRift and publisher Tate Multimedia, was originally expected to launch this month. Now, the release date has been delayed to May 11th, 2023. It will be available on PC.
The team behind Voodolls has cited “feedback and results” from the Open Beta as the cause for delay. Here’s the full announcement from the game’s official Twitter feed:
Voodolls released its Open Beta just a couple of weeks ago. The devs plan on addressing all of the feedback from an Open Beta in just one month, so it remains to be seen if the new release date will hold.
However, it does suggest that the mechanics and visuals may only need some slight tweaking and polishing. That also implies the game was already fairly solid.
Either way, the delay is relatively short, so fans shouldn’t feel too disappointed. Every fanbase prefers a smooth launch, and it sounds like the devs are truly dedicated to listening to the players if they’re willing to postpone the game so close to launch.
The most recent trailer for Voodolls teased last month’s Open Beta, where you can review some actual gameplay:
The music and setting of Voodolls is certainly unique, with a vibrant island and 90’s adventure tone. It seems like a delightful blend of casual and complex gameplay, especially thanks to the cooperative mechanics.
It should be fun to learn how the roles can all blend together. But exploring this world is also going to be a highlight. The freedom to wander around will add meaning to the tower defense gameplay, as well as a playful sense of discovery that really connects players.
