VR Skater, an upcoming skating game that was built for VR from the ground up, has officially delayed its release date for PSVR2. Originally expected to launch on July 21st, it is now slated to release on PlayStation on August 4th, 2023.
According to a new tweet posted today from publisher Perp Games, the team behind VR Skater made some fixes over the weekend, which they will need to “test thoroughly” before release. This implies that the issues may not have been perfectly resolved just yet, so hopefully they won’t require even more fixes that would push the delay further.

VR Skater’s sudden delay might be pretty disappointing for fans, since the devs marketed their July launch just yesterday. But they did issue an apology in today’s tweet, the delay is relatively short, and most players prefer a smooth launch anyway.
Developed by DEFICIT Games, VR Skater has been available in Early Access on PC via Steam since 2021. VR Skater features four full maps, leaderboards, a soundtrack from emerging artists, intuitive VR controls and more.
It’s shaping up to be the ideal blend between the tone of skateboarding classics and immersive sim gameplay. While the VR elements expect players to practice and master many familiar tricks, it also seems like realism will be cast aside at times.
Hopefully, VR Skater will be able to appeal to fans of either approach. But it certainly makes the most of VR technology, and a PSVR2 release will definitely benefit its ambitious mechanics.
The full launch is expected to add a lot of new content, including the main Tour mode, challenges, and achievements. Back in April, the devs also released gameplay details about board customization and the signature Mega Ramp.
