Octopath Traveler II is a follow-up, roleplaying game that takes place in Solistia, a land that holds the eastern and western continent that has been divided by the sea. Eight travelers, all from different areas, venture to this realm on their own, unique journeys, and players can choose to play any of these eight characters and then work through different game mechanics. If you are trying to understand what Latent Powers are in Octopath Traveler II, we have a detailed answer!
What are Latent Powers in Octopath Traveler II?
Each Traveler has a Latent Power that acts as a special ability that can be accessed after filling up the combat gauge (which fills up as you attack and damage enemies as well as when you take damage). You can access the Latent Power by pressing X/Triangle.
You want to balance taking damage with doing damage and breaking enemies in order to fill up the gauge, but keep in mind, the gauge will be fully depleted when a traveler is stunned.
All Latent Powers by Traveler in Octopath Traveler II
We have put together a cheat sheet sharing all of the Latent Powers available to each Traveler so that you try to determine what starting character makes the most sense and which ones you may want to add to your Party along your journey.
| Traveler | Latent Power | Latent Power Abilities |

Hienka: A powerful Sword attack on a single foe twice. Gain additional turn once. Sougetsusen: A powerful Sword, then Polearm attack on all foes. |
| Agnea Bristani | All Together Now: Extend the reach of skills to all. | Skills like Lion Dance can be extended to all in the Party. |
| Partitio Yellowil | Hoot and Holler: Replenish all BP instantly for a party member. | It can be used at the beginning of a battle or during it. |
| Osvald V. Vanstein | Concentrate Spells: Allows Osvald to focus spells that normally target all foes to a single target with increased power. | Most of Osvald’s magic-based skills target multiple enemies, so this is useful Latent Power to have access to. |
| Temenos Mistral | Judgment: Lower Shield Points of enemies with any attack. | Try it with attacks or multi-hit skills to break an enemy faster. |
| Throne Anguis | Leave No Trace: Enables her to act twice in a single turn. | You can combine actions, e.g. attack and heal. |
| Ochette | Animal Instincts: Unleash Ochette’s inner beast and gain access to special skills. | Beastly Claws: Hits all combatants with strong physical attack. Beastly Fangs: Unleashes strong physical attack on single target. |
| Castti Florenz | Every Drop Counts: Allows Castti to concoct without costing materials. | Pair it with Boost to maximize how many concoctions you can do without it costing any materials. |
