Really struggling to understand how THE is What doesn’t normally make headlines?????

    1. Jorge A. Aguilar

In journalism, a standard headline is written in “journalese,” a terminology developed over decades. Due to space constraints, headlines often use last names, ‘single quotes’, short nouns (pols, Rays, funds), verbs (tout, mull, nix), and abbreviations (VW, Babs, EU). Essentially, lose everything that doesn’t help the reader understand the article at a glance. This often leads to words like ‘to’ ‘a’ and ‘the’ being removed from headlines.

So ‘the’ normally doesn’t make the headlines =)
