Crisis Core Gameplay

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII is an action, roleplaying game, which was recently remastered in its Reunion edition, launched late in 2022. (The storyline will be recreated in the mobile game Ever Crisis.) One of the major components of Crisis Core gameplay is using Materia and the Materia Fusion system. If you need help understanding what the Materia Fusion system is, we’ll help you learn all about it!

What is Materia Fusion?

Materia Fusion is the act of taking two Materias and combining them together, and when these two Materias come together, they typically give stat boosts. Fusion can also create Materia, too, and this Materia can only be obtained through fusing two Materias to begin with.

There are four types of Materia:

  • Command Materia: offers physical-based actions that consume AP
  • Independent Materia: enhances or modifies Zach’s stats or to Digital Mind Wave abilities
  • Magic Materia: allows Zack to use magic spells in battle
  • Support Materia: modifies equipped Command or Magic Materia

Where to get Materia?

Some materia can be purchased directly from shops (many of which require unlocking). Other materia is the result of fusing two materia together. Here is a list of shops that sell materia – click/tap to explore what the shop offers and how to unlock the shop:
