Even after being out for only one day, Lost Ark’s new western release has proven to be very popular. A ton of new players means a lot of new questions, including what to do with old gear. In this guide we’ll show you how to make the most out of gear you don’t need anymore in Lost Ark.
How To Use Old Gear In Lost Ark
With a ton of people grinding through Lost Ark’s addicting combat system, many players are already finding themselves with a horde of old gear they don’t know what to do with. Rather than sell that gear for mediocre amounts of silver, you should be dismantling it.
In most MMORPGS, the best thing to do with old gear is to simply sell it. This leads to a lot of crowded inventory space as you carry around useless old gear that will sell poorly. Many players will simply drop the gear, instead of bothering to sell it for a mediocre profit.
Dismantling old gear in Lost Ark will net you junk. Junk at first may seem like useless inventory clutter, but this misconception couldn’t be further from the truth. Hoarding junk is always more lucrative than selling gear flat out, and unlike holding on to all of your gear, the junk components you get from dismantling stack. This frees up a lot of space between trips to the merchant, so you don’t have to worry about lugging around all of your old stuff.
Dismantling Gear
Unfortunately, dismantling isn’t available right from the start. To unlock dismantling, you will first need to reach the Nevatia Ruins, where you will encounter Archaeologist Hadim. Completing his short quest will unlock the ability to Dismantle Items.
Opening your inventory now will show you a newly unlocked dismantle button, near the bottom. When you open this menu, right-clicking any piece of character equipment will show you the dismantle option, which will then add them to the dismantle box. Simply clicking the dismantle button from here will add junk to your inventory. When at a merchant, you can use the “sell all junk” button to unload your components quickly.
