Riolu is a Fighting-Type Pokémon that, after it has reached the maximum level and achieved High Friendship, evolves into Lucario. Since the release of Diamond and Pearl, Lucario has become one of the most sought-after Pokémon. As such, you may consider adding Riolu to your team. Despite the fact that the Riolu’s entry in the Pokédex states that it is “Rarely seen,” players of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have a chance of finding it quite early on in the game. If you want to catch Riolu in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, we’ll show you in this guide!

To locate Riolu’s spawn area early on in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you may instantly start looking for it after completing the tutorial at the Academy in Mesagoza. Riolu is a Southwestern Paldean Pokémon, so you may either head to the Mesagoza South exit or the West exit to reach the South Province (Area Four) and South Province (Area Two).

After leaving Mesagoza by the West exit, proceed toward the south near the river and continue along the narrow route until you reach the South Province. Once you have found a land bridge, you will need to climb up and cross it in order to get near Riolu’s spawn area.

Navigate to the location at the end of the land bridge (as shown in the image above) and click ‘set as the destination.’ You might try to find Riolu by running around the spawn area while using your radar. A Riolu icon will appear on the mini-map whenever one is located in close proximity to you. If you locate Riolu early on in the game, it may be around level 18 when you encounter it.

That’s everything you need to know in finding Riolu in Paldea. Learn more about the game by visiting the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet section of our site.
