Starting your journey in Blasphemous 2, you’ll soon face an important decision: Which weapon should you choose? The Veredicto (Mace), Sarmiento & Centella (Dual Blades), or Ruego Al Alba (Sword). This choice can slightly alter your gameplay experience. I’ve used all three of them, so let me break down which weapon to choose in Blasphemous 2.
Which Weapon (Companion) to Pick in Blasphemous 2? Veredicto (Mace), Sarmiento & Centella (Dual Blade), or Ruego Al Alba (Sword)
For beginners, the recommended weapon I would advise you to pick in Blasphemous 2 leans towards starting with either Ruego Al Alba (Sword) or, if you fancy being different the Veredicto (Mace). If I had to choose, I would pick Ruego Al Alba (Sword). The reason being that there’s a particular enemy type encountered about an hour into the game that’s challenging to tackle with the Sarmiento & Centella (Dual Blades). Choosing the mace or the sword will spare you this difficulty and frustration.
I chose Sarmiento & Centella (Dual Blades) for my playthrough, as I love fast-paced weapons and wanted to experience something new for Blasphemous 2, and I had no idea what was in store for me. If I had the knowledge I had at the start of the game, I would have picked Ruego Al Alba (Sword).
All three weapons have their pros and cons, yet, the decision is much more than you realize. Yet playing blind is the best way to experience Metroidvania, Blasphemous 2. Let me explain what each weapon is good for.
Should I choose Veredicto (Mace) – Blasphemous 2
With the mace, power is your ally. The Veredicto dishes out high damage, making it a force to be reckoned with. However, it’s slower in its swing, which might require some getting used to. The upside? It can easily stun enemies. As a unique feature, it can utilize Fire, but be mindful, as activating it will drain your Fervour until empty until you upgrade it.
Should I choose Sarmiento & Centella (Dual Blades) – Blasphemous 2
If speed is what you seek, Sarmiento & Centella is for you. The Dual Wield weapons boast the fastest attack speed among the three choices. While their damage might be on the lower side, they can reset enemy attacks by staggering them, and the damage is about equal as you’re hitting them faster. Additionally, you can upgrade these with the power of Lightning, which resets upon getting hit, meaning Sarmiento & Centella is for the agile players, those who can master dodging and can remain unscathed in battle.
Should I choose Ruego Al Alba – Blasphemous 2
A balanced blend of speed and power, Ruego Al Alba provides moderate damage, and though it’s slower than the Dual Blades, it makes up for it with a potent three-hit combo. Players will also benefit from its Mystical damage ability, which works as a life steal and can be a lifesaver in tight spots once upgraded. This weapon can also be upgraded to end with powerful combo finishers.
Can You Get All Three Weapons in Blasphemous 2?
Yes, you can get all three weapons in Blasphemous 2, which are essential to the design and flow of game progression. To avoid going too much into spoiler territory. Though I will say, a friend of mine has confirmed this. Depending on your chosen weapon, alter where you can find the other two weapon locations.
I started with the Sarmiento & Centella (Dual Blade), and I found my first weapon technically after the first boss when my friend started with Veredicto (Mace) and found his second weapon much earlier, before the first boss.
