Wild Hearts, the greatly anticipated monster-hunting RPG from Koei Tecmo and EA, has revealed a brand-new CG trailer to build hype before the game launches on February 17th, 2023. It will be available on PC and next-gen consoles for PlayStation and Xbox. You can watch today’s new trailer on Wild Hearts’ official YouTube channel here:
Today’s trailer was purely a CG cinematic with some narration, which is a very smart way to continue building hype without spoiling any more than the devs already have. Wild Hearts has released a slew of trailers and reveals on a monthly basis, including an extended look at the Golden Tempest and even seven full minutes of gameplay as far back as October.
Curious fans of the genre have probably already made up their minds, so there was no real point in revealing much more. Besides, launch is right around the corner, so the previous trailer was expected to be the final one anyway.
Either way, today’s cinematic is absolutely gorgeous, and smartly begins with one of the monsters turning out victorious. It’s important to establish that these Kemono are a legitimate threat, especially if players are going to spend the entire game hunting them, which could ordinarily imply some kind of superiority.
The action sequences are very well-staged in today’s trailer, and even manages to sell some of the more fantastical or over-the-top technology, like those catapult hammers. The narration also lends a lot of atmosphere, reinforcing the appeal of the game’s cultural influence and tone.
Overall, this trailer alone would probably be enough to intrigue fans, so hopefully it runs smoothly enough to deliver a comparable alternative to Monster Hunter.
