Today, Mega Cat Studios and Skybound Games made an official announcement regarding the delay of WrestleQuest, a unique blend of pro wrestling and RPG fantasy. The game’s launch, originally scheduled for an earlier date, has been postponed to August 22 across all platforms.
The delay came after the developers discovered a critical problem during the final checks of the game. In their announcement, they explained, “When performing final checks on one of our launch platforms, we discovered it was possible for players to lose their save game progress when playing WrestleQuest on multiple different devices.”
The developers stressed the importance of player progress, adding that they “could never bodyslam our fans like that.” They also expressed gratitude for the support they’ve seen, stating, “We’re blown away by the support we’ve seen from players excited for WrestleQuest.”
WrestleQuest invites players to “TAG TEAM WITH DESTINY,” allowing them to take a hero’s journey in the world of tights. Players can train, learn, glam, and slam their way from aspiring rookies to world champs. The game draws inspiration from wrestling icons like Jake the Snake Roberts, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, and André the Giant, and lets players explore worlds based on these legends’ careers.
With features like classic RPG combat, wrestling moves, match styles, and gimmicks, WrestleQuest offers a variety of realms, exotic monsters, and action figure fighters. The game even allows players to choose their moves, style, taunts, and entrance, learning what it takes to be a pro wrestler in a fantastical setting.
The developers’ commitment to ensuring a polished gaming experience is evident in their decision to delay the release. They have promised to address the identified issue and affirmed their pride in the game by saying, “We are truly proud of this game and believe that we have a product that delivers on all counts.”
WrestleQuest will now be available on August 22, giving Mega Cat Studios and Skybound Games the time needed to ensure that the players’ experience meets the intended quality.
