Xbox has just revealed that they have partnered with The Game Awards to share over 20 demos, including games that are unusually early in development. The demos will be available on the Xbox Dashboard between December 6th and December 12th, 2022, according to a new a tweet from official Xbox news feed “Xbox Wire”:
Only four of the games that fans can expect have been announced so far. Unfortunately, Xbox doesn’t plan on revealing the entire list until the day of, December 6th.
However, one of the games mentioned today is Tin Hearts, which recently showed off a brand-new trailer in late November. The game only just announced that it would delay its launch until 2023, so that’s indicative of the state other games will be in when you get the demo next week. This suggests the games will be a little clunky and tougher to play.
As Xbox points out, though, this will also let a highly unusual number of players provide their feedback in an early stage of game development. It’ll be very interesting to see how fans respond to games that won’t function quite as well as traditional demos that Xbox offers. Casual players will be unfamiliar with the development process, and may be surprised by what they get.
Other upcoming demos that were announced today are Yaza Games’ Inkulinati, a strategy game with a medieval theme, SURT and tinyBuild’s Rhythm Sprout, and Annapurna Interactive’s Thirsty Suitors, which will actually feature turn-based battles against exes. Thirsty Suitors has had a Steam demo available since July, so fans will be able to get an idea of how it’s coming along.
Annapurna Interactive is a pretty big publisher, between Stray and The Outer Wilds, so Xbox fans should definitely expect some big surprises next week.
