Xbox has announced that they have partnered with popular nail brand OPI again this year for their all-new Sunkissed Vibes Special Edition controller. It will be available on May 9th, 2023, going for $69.99 USD. In the United States, players will only be able to find this one as a Target exclusive.
The controller features four different shades inspired by OPI’s new Summer Make the Rules collection. Here’s the full announcement from the official Xbox Wire Twitter feed:
Teaming up with OPI makes a lot of sense, given the brand’s renowned quality and emphasis on self-expression. The nail brand is consistently developing creative ways for people to showcase their personality, and they frequently use new themes to tap into every kind of culture or holiday.
Similarly, Xbox presses the customization of their controllers and let players tinker with a wide variety of materials or shades. Just recently, the Design Lab expanded color collections for Series 2 controllers. Xbox also celebrated Earth Day earlier this month with the Remix Special Edition controller. The new Sunkissed Vibes controller is bold and bright, effectively capturing the upbeat color scheme of summer. Despite the variety of shades for a single product, they never become messy, and that kind of organization is surely a contribution of OPI. Xbox released some Redfall Limited Edition controllers last week that have some great imagery, but they also have a lot of visual noise:
It’s a shame that Sunkissed Vibes will be a Target exclusive, and seemingly the only tie-in product. But it’s certainly tidy, and the collaboration is just as thematic as last year.
