Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel’s second event, The N/R Rarity Festival, has just gotten started. This special duel mode features a unique restriction that only allows decks consisting of Normal and Rare cards. Here’s our guide for getting into the N/R festival and winning as many gems as possible before time runs out.
Master Duel N/R Festival
To participate in the N/R rarity festival, simply go to the Duel section and press on the Event Duel button on the right side of the screen. To participate in the N/R festival, you will need a deck consisting only of Normal or Rare (N and R) rarity cards. You can equip your event deck in the “my deck” section of the event screen, or use a loaner if you don’t have a fitting deck to use.
During the N/R festival, you have the chance to win a ton of gems by participating in the event. This is done by winning event medals; You earn 50 for every duel you lose, and 500 for wins. These medals are only awarded by event duels, not the default ranked or solo games.

You’ll earn rewards every 500 medals, with big rewards at 1500, 2000 and 2500 medals. These rewards can be claimed from the Missions tab in the main menu. You have to earn these rewards before the event runs out, and any duels you play after the festival duration won’t count.
Removing SR and UR cards from the running creates an interesting meta. Many cards that dominate the ranked YUGIOH meta are removed because of their rarity. WIth only Normal and Rare cards available, many strong monsters won’t make an appearance during this event, and creative deckbuilding is your best bet to earn the most medals before the time is out.
Megalith decks are currently dominating in the event, using Megalith Phul to Ritual Summon Megalith Bethor and destroying tons of enemy cards. Blue-Eyes Chaos Dragon is also particularly strong, as many decks in this format don’t have answers for a 3000 atk point monster that can’t be removed by card effects.
That’s everything you need to know to make the most of the N/R Rarity Festival in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel! Be sure to check out our other Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel Guides for other fun and competitive deck guides.
