Alone in the Dark, an upcoming reimagining of the iconic 90’s horror survival game from developer Pieces Interactive and publisher THQ Nordic, has released a new cinematic trailer. It teases “The Dark Man” alongside narration that hints at the central conflict. The new trailer also announces that more information will be revealed tomorrow, August 2nd, 2023.
Alone in the Dark is currently slated to release on October 25th, 2023. It will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders are available now, and a prologue was released in May as a playable demo. You can watch today’s The Dark Man teaser on the Xbox YouTube channel:
Today’s teaser wasn’t especially revealing, particularly compared to the spotlight video from May, which delved surprisingly deep into both gameplay and behind-the-scenes details. However, the new Dark Man teaser was clearly more of an appetizer for tomorrow. Fans can probably expect to learn more about the villain.
Players will get to uncover the story as either private investigator Edward Carnby or Emily Hartwood, who are respectively played by David Harbour and Jodie Comer.
These actors also happen to share their likeness, which is usually really neat. Fans have responded positively to the likes of The Quarry and Death Stranding. Choosing different characters will also result in different perspectives, cutscenes and levels.
Alone in the Dark makes it clear on the official website that it features a totally original story, though it will “incorporate characters, places and themes from the 90’s original trilogy”. So, any new information tomorrow could be insightful, regarding The Dark Man’s motivations and how they’ll work. However, it would be nice if the devs kept some bigger surprises a mystery.
