Here’s something that all of us gamers know: size matters. And by that, I mean the size of the game we’re about to download and install, of course! It’s a bit like unpacking a surprise gift – sometimes you get a neat little package, and other times, you get something so gargantuan that it tackles you to the ground, and you realize it’s a puppy! Well, if you’ve been wondering about the Baldur’s Gate 3 download size, I just hope you have enough space on your hard drive…

How Big is Baldur’s Gate 3 Download Size

Ready for the number? Here it comes: Baldur’s Gate 3 is a whopping 122 GB, as per the developers at Larian Studios. Yup, you read that right, 122 GB of epic RPG goodness. Whether you’re playing on your trusty PC or embracing the freedom of the Steam Deck, you’ll want to ensure you have enough storage space to accommodate this epic journey.

Now, if you’re hoping to preload Baldur’s Gate 3, I’m afraid I have to be the bearer of bad news. According to a post from Larian, “There will be no preloading of the game before [launch].” Turns out, it’s due to Steam’s handling of preloads for Early Access titles. Apparently, if a switch to preload was allowed, it would break the game for folks currently playing the Early Access version. Ah, the conundrum of new game releases!

As a result, we’ll all need to download all 122GB of Baldur’s Gate 3 at once. Given the size, this could mean that some of us may be unable to play until the day after release. But trust me, from my experience, BG3 is definitely worth the wait!
