Developer Red Beard Games has released a brand-new roadmap for Divine Knockout today in a brief overview video, including their plans for four different release updates. This includes the release of new maps, Zeus and two more unannounced Gods, balancing patches and more.
Although these updates were expected sooner, they were recently delayed by a vague “late-stage issue” according to an official, lengthy update post. Both the post and today’s video cautiously aim for January of 2023, now. However, it’s clear that the holidays are the main reason the team can’t get these out sooner.
Hopefully, the issues will be resolved in time for January. Here’s the full video on Divine Knockout’s YouTube channel:
Divine Knockout has unfortunately hit a snag in its ambitious updates, but given the new roadmap today, the future still looks very promising. There we be plenty of new Gods to discover and master, as well as 3 new Duel Maps and a completely new 3v3 map.
It’s unclear how much distance there will be between each release, but Divine Knockout has maintained an unusually high pace when rolling out content. After all, the game barely launched earlier this month. It seems they’re trying to cash in on the buzz while Divine Knockout is still new.
It’s a little unfortunate that there won’t be a balance patch after Zeus is released, since the character has been considered dangerously overpowered since his ability kit was revealed in a livestream last week. This means that if he breaks the game, players may need to be unhappy for a little while, even if the upcoming Gods are built as natural foils.
The “Spirit Shrine” map was announced on December 16th with a brief teaser, and it looks absolutely gorgeous, so it’ll be very exciting to see how the Norse realms are interpreted for the 1st Season. You can’t go wrong with Norse mythology these days, as it’s permeated indies and AAA titles alike.
