Dr Smart Space Adventure, an upcoming learn and play indie from publisher RedDeerGames, has just released a new announcement trailer featuring gameplay. A release window has not been confirmed, but it will be available on the Nintendo Switch. You can watch the full trailer on RedDeerGames’ official YouTube channel here:
RedDeerGames is probably best known for their quirky and friendly indies. They announced nPaint just last week, and last month they announced Sport & Fun: Swimming. Both of those titles can essentially be boiled down to learn and play games too, with incredibly basic mechanics and family friendly art designs.
So, Dr Smart Space Adventure is right in their wheelhouse, and it may suggest the publisher will be leaning in that direction. Players might expect other upcoming titles to skew younger.
And that’s nice, but RedDeerGames has also shown an interest in a wider range of games, so interested fans may be disappointed. After all, RedDeerGames also championed UnderDungeon, an amusing retro dungeon-crawler that launched back in January.
RedDeerGames even released the novelty act new Operating System, which sent some curious Nintendo Switch fans abuzz when they believed the console might actually get some key change to the OS. That was more of an oddity, and it’d be fun to see other quirky titles in the publisher’s future.
Dr Smart Space Adventure definitely has a cute vibe going for it, with adorable characters and nice settings. It should be absolutely fine for the target audience, and only that audience. The general art design will probably remind you of really old school PC learning games from the late 90’s and early 2000’s, though. It probably could have been more imaginative in its approach.
