Stardew Valley’s developer, Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, has been teasing details about the highly anticipated 1.6 update. Every so often, he’ll release a tweet showing part of the patch notes for the next update. One of the reveals is quite unusual: players will soon have the option to drink mayonnaise.
Update 1.6 is expected to launch on PC on March 19th, with console and mobile releases to follow. In this update, we can eat mayonnaise (thanks, Eurogamer). The purpose and effects of consuming mayonnaise in the game are still unknown, but it will surely bring a unique and unexpected aspect to the gameplay.
We’ve seen other updates from this, like a fix for disgruntled spouses. After getting married, spouses play a role in farm life, but not meeting their needs can sometimes result in them staying in bed all day. To make the transition to married life easier, the upcoming 1.6 update will introduce a seven-day honeymoon period where spouses will stay enthusiastic and active, regardless of player attention.
We also detailed new farming tricks allowing players to move things they’ve planted without issues. These tricks make playing the game much easier and remove unnecessary stress. In the latest update, players will notice some quality-of-life improvements. Interacting with pets has been made easier, saving players time when moving around the farm. Moreover, jellies, pickles, wines, and juices are now visually distinct, making inventory management and organization more convenient.
This should be the last tweet before we finally get the 1.6 update. We’ll have to wait and see what it brings.
