How to Catch the Sea Leviathan in Fisch
To catch the Sea Leviathan in Fisch, you need to find it during the Sea Leviathan Hunt event, which occurs randomly in the Open Ocean areas of the Second Sea. Use your radar (or look for pink indicators) to find the fishing zone, and then use the right rod, bait, and fish during specific conditions for the best chance.
Finding the Sea Leviathan Spawn Location in Fisch
First off, you need to understand that the Sea Leviathan isn’t just swimming around all the time. It’s an Exotic fish that only appears during the Sea Leviathan Hunt event.
- No Server Notification: Unlike other events like Orca sightings or Whale Migrations, the game will NOT announce when a Sea Leviathan Hunt event begins. It happens randomly, and you have to find it yourself.
- What to Look For: Keep your eyes peeled while sailing the Open Ocean areas of the Second Sea. If an event is active, you’ll see a massive, red and white, snake-like creature floating on the surface. It’s huge – you can’t miss it!
- Common Spawn Areas: While it can spawn anywhere in the open ocean, players have reported seeing it frequently near the coast of Waveborne Island and in the open waters between Emberreach and Pine Shoals.
- Using the Radar: If you have the Fish Radar equipped on your boat, it will mark the special fishing perimeter around the Sea Leviathan when the event is active.
- Pink Indicators: Even without the radar, you might notice various ‘pink blocks’ scattered on the map. These can sometimes help point you in the general direction of the event area.

How to Catch the Sea Leviathan in Fisch
Okay, you’ve spotted the beast! Now, how do you actually catch it? This fish is tough, so you’ll want to optimize your chances.
- The Bestiary Recommendations: The in-game Bestiary suggests the following conditions:
- Bait: Luminous Larva (Standard/Preferred Bait)
- Weather: Foggy
- Season: Spring
- Time: Anytime (though Night might be slightly preferred according to some)
- Best Recommendation:
- Fishing Rod: Free Spirit Rod (or another high-tier Second Sea rod)
- Bait: Luminous Larva or Weird Algae
- Time: Day
- Weather: Foggy or Rain
- Season: Winter
- Resulting Chance (with these specific conditions & Free Spirit Rod): Approximately 1.4% per cast.
- Choosing Your Rod: You’ll need a powerful rod with good stats, especially Resilience (the Sea Leviathan has a resilience rating of 3, which is high). Good options include:
- Great Dreamer
- Free Spirit Rod
- Verdant Sheer
- Or any other top-tier rod available in the Second Sea with high Max Kg and good Resilience/Control.
- Stay Inside the Perimeter: Once you start fishing, pay attention! The Sea Leviathan moves around, and the fishing perimeter will move with it. You must keep your boat inside the designated fishing area (marked by the radar or visible around the creature) to have a chance of hooking it. Keep repositioning your boat as needed.
- Prepare for a Fight: This fish has a -90% Progression Speed, meaning reeling it in will be extremely slow and difficult. Make sure your rod has good control and resilience, and be prepared for a long battle.
Important: There is only one Sea Leviathan available per event spawn. If another player catches it before you do, you’ll have to wait for the next random event to try again.
