The battle city tournament was a huge arc in the Yu-Gi-Oh anime. Hosted by Seto Kaiba, the goal of the tournament was to gather and win all three god cards from the best duelists in the world. In this guide, we’ll show you how to build and play Seto Kaiba’s Battle City Deck in Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel.
Seto Kaiba’s Battle City Deck
Kaiba’s goal in the battle city arc was to get his hands on the god cards, cards so powerful they were never allowed to enter production. While other nefarious deeds were going on in the background, Kaiba’s goal remained simple, and he was even able to get his hands on the legendary Obelisk the Tormentor.

It’s important to keep in mind that the Yu-Gi-Oh meta has shifted far from where it was at the time, and that in the anime duel rules and card effects were questionable at best; While Kaiba’s Battle City deck was one sold as a structure deck, it’s hard to call it competitive. Build this deck for fun, but don’t expect it to win every time!
How To Play The Deck
Much like Yugi’s Battle City Deck, Kaiba’s deck is a boss monster support deck. It features some monster cards that show their age, with the main win condition being summoning your Blue-Eyes fusion monsters or your Obelisk the Tormentor. It also features the fan-favorite XYZ Dragon Canon and the monsters needed to fusion summon it.
Unfortunately, this deck doesn’t make use of a lot of spell cards made for getting the most out of Obelisk or Blue-Eyes. The main strategy of the deck is just to summon your fusion monsters as fast as possible, and use their stats and effects to control the board and deal damage to your opponent. The Battle City decks, while fun to build and play, show their age in their lack of flashy mechanics or turn one OTKs.

Please note that because this is an anime decklist, some of these cards will be banned or limited in Master Duel. Because of the nature of these decks, rather than tell you what to replace these cards with, I’ll leave it up to you to choose which cards work best with your playstyle.
