Discord is a vast platform that allows you to create communities, message people, and keep in touch with your friends. You can use it to chat with people with text messaging, voice, and even video calls. It is a very versatile piece of software that can be used on your mobile device or computer. However, due to the amount you can do with Discord it can sometimes be confusing to use it. If you’re wondering how to cross out or strikethrough text, we’ll show you how in this guide.

Crossing Out Text

To cross out text in Discord, you need to use the (~) tilde key on your keyboard or virtual keyboard. Place two tilde in front of the text you want to strikethrough, and then follow it with two more tildes. This will cross out the text by putting a line through it and will appear that way when you send the message.

As you can see from the example below, if you put the two tildes on either side of the text it will strikethrough the message in the PC version of the program. On mobile, however, it will not show the line through the text before you send it. When you do send it the message will be crossed out how you wanted it.

Example of crossed out text in Discord on PC

If you’re still a bit confused, then this is how the text should look: ~~example text~~. You can copy and paste that into Discord and you should see that it will be crossed out when you send the message. If you don’t have the tilde key on your keyboard, you can copy and paste it from the text in this post and use it that way. For most people, you will find the tilde right under the Escape key on your keyboard.

If you’re a user of an iPhone, you can find the tilde key by going to the “123” section of the keyboard and then going to the “#+=” section. You should see it on the second row towards the middle. Android users should find the key using the same options.

Any text you don’t surround with the two tildes will NOT be crossed out. So, make sure to only surround the parts of your message that you would like to have a line through it.
