Fortnite has gone primal with the addition of dinosaurs and a hidden jungle underneath the fallen layer on the island in Chapter Four, season three. There are also a number of ruins that have shown up across the island, featuring triangle-shaped doors with mysterious colors. These doors ask players to give an item in order to be let inside.
Fortunately, it’s not as hard as it may seem to get these doors at the different Ruins open in Fortnite as long as you know the trick.
How to open the Ruin’s Vault during Fortnite Chapter 4, season 3

When you see a door that’s shaped like a triangle, or half a diamond, like the one above, you’ll notice a color coming off the basin. When you walk up to the door, it will ask for the offering of an item. While some players might think you need a specific item, you really only need to give something that matches the color of the basin. You can find multiple of these doors around Rumble Ruins and other jungle areas.
Use this cheat sheet to figure out what rarity you need:
- White or Grey: Common
- Green: Uncommon
- Blue: Rare
- Purple: Epic
- Orange: Legendary
- Gold: Mythic
- Exotic: Light Blue
In the image above, you can see that I was using the Epic-rarity Kinetic Boomerang to get into a purple door, which was filled with the treasure seen in the feature image. Not only that but there was another Kinetic Boomerang just sitting out in the open, so I didn’t even end up wasting a weapon.

This is a great puzzle and is somewhat reminiscent of Fortnite Chapter Three when Indiana Jones was introduced during the “Vibin'” season last summer. This puzzle is a little bit easier, but it requires players to come prepared with a weapon that matches the quality of the door. It’s best to gear up and then find your way to one of these doors if you hope to unlock them.
