Dead by Daylight, the popular horror video game, seems to be expanding its universe with two new spin-off games, according to recent leaks. These forthcoming titles, being developed in collaboration with two different studios, come on the heels of other significant revelations about the game, including a rumored partnership with Iron Maiden and Slipknot, the release of the Year 8 Roadmap, and the now officially revealed inclusion of Nicolas Cage in the game.
The first of these spin-off games is reportedly being developed in conjunction with Midwinter Entertainment. Based on the leaked details, the game’s central themes will revolve around greed and the lust for power. This title will provide a four-player multiplayer PVE experience where players will venture into an entity’s realm to face adversaries. The game’s description appears to mirror the gameplay style of Left 4 Dead, although the title is reportedly in the early stages of development.
Midwinter Entertainment, known for its creation of the game Scavengers, was established as an independent game developer in December 2016. The studio was purchased by Behaviour Interactive, the creators of Dead by Daylight, in 2022. Scavengers, a hybrid of sandbox-style PVE and class-based PVP gameplay, was shuttered in December of that year.
The second leaked spin-off game is a collaboration with Supermassive Games. This title is set to be a single-player interactive story game situated within the Dead by Daylight “omniverse”. The game will take place outside of the entity’s realm and introduce a new ensemble of characters. According to the leaked video, more details about this game will be released later this year.
Supermassive Games, a British video game developer based in Guildford, Surrey, is known for producing horror games. The studio’s notable works include Until Dawn for the PlayStation 4, The Dark Pictures Anthology for Bandai Namco Entertainment, and The Quarry for 2K Games.
