Marauders is a brutal game that can be just as unforgiving as it is exciting. Raiding a derelict space station is a game of wits, reflexes, and some luck. Heading into a raid in Marauders is something you should be thoroughly prepared for, and there’s no better preparation than knowing the essentials. This guide will go over some tips that you absolutely need to know before playing Marauders.

Marauders Tips

Before we get into this list, the most important thing to have when playing Marauders is caution. There are times when you will be outmanned and outgunned, and the wrong play will get you killed. Gunning down the first player or NPC you see is not always the smartest idea; Be clever, quick, and attentive, and you’ll outlast the other Marauders around you.

With that out of the way, let’s get into our Essential Marauders Tips.

You can get Free Gear at the start of every match

If you’re new to Marauders or find yourself low on money and gear, it’s important to remember that you can get a free gun, ammo, and Pouch Vest at the start of every match. This is a good way to save money and valuable gear, as well as collect some items for free if you don’t have any.

When you spawn on your ship at the start of a match, you will find a Luger, a box of ammo, and a Pouch Vest on a table in the room you start in. Sometimes, you will even spawn in front of these items. Approach these items and press F to equip them instantly if you have no other gear in their slots.

As mentioned in our Scrapping Guide, these items can be saved and scrapped after the mission for some good, free crafting materials.

Split your items and ammo before a match

Some items, especially crafted items, stack by default when you put them in your inventory. While useful for saving space, you don’t usually want to bring two, three, or four lockpicks or an entire stack of ammo with you into a raid. Splitting your stacks allows you to further customize your inventory before a raid.

Know where your exit is

You’re never really safe in a raid, even when you’re ready to leave. As mentioned in our Extraction guide, knowing where your exit is ahead of time is important to the success of a raid, and can buy you valuable time.

Every second you spend trying to find your exit is more wasted oxygen and another chance for a player to kill you. Before getting too deep in a raid, find the Extraction Gate and remember which Hanger you parked in. It could save your life!

Look up!

The last and most important tip for Marauders is to be stealthy and aware of your surroundings. Crouch or aim walk where possible, as the sounds of your footsteps will attract other players as well as NPCs.

Also, don’t forget to look up. The maps in Marauders are full of bridges and staircases that overlook locations, giving potential shooters a very easy shot on you. Most of my kills in Marauders come from players who don’t think to look above them.
