Palworld, one of my favorite games and the favorite of many others, has achieved remarkable success since its Early Access launch on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass. According to an Xbox, it has become the biggest third-party Game Pass launch ever, surpassing all other non-Microsoft developed titles in terms of player engagement.

The statistics are impressive, as we’ve seen in the Xbox Wire article announcing it. Over seven million players have jumped into the world of Palworld on Xbox alone, with a peak of nearly three million daily active users, making it the most-played game on Xbox platforms. Additionally, it holds the title of the most-played third-party day-one release on Xbox Cloud Gaming with Game Pass Ultimate.

This surge in popularity isn’t entirely unexpected. Palworld has garnered significant attention for its unique blend of monster-collecting mechanics, survival elements, and even controversial features like hunting and utilizing captured creatures for resources. It’s also outdone almost every game on Steam. The game gave players everything monster capture games like Pokémon wouldn’t, so it’s not surprising.

The Xbox Wire article highlights the game’s ongoing development through its Early Access program. Developer Pocketpair is actively gathering player feedback and implementing improvements based on community input. Notably, cross-play, a highly requested feature, is already under development in response to player demand. Due to certification issues, the Xbox version is lagging behind, but Palworld might be given priority because of its huge player base.

In the article, Microsoft claims to be playing a crucial role in supporting Palworld’s growth. The Xbox team is collaborating with Pocketpair on various fronts, including enabling dedicated servers, optimizing the game for Xbox platforms, and expediting the update process. This combined effort ensures a smoother experience for players and facilitates further development.

Palworld is obviously here to stay and will soon be a game made by a Triple-A Studio because the revenue will cause the studio to start hiring developers. PlayStation needs to hurry up and get Palworld on their consoles because they really don’t want Microsoft to make this exclusive. Right now, it’s up in the air.
