The Front feels very geared toward multiplayer gameplay because of its servers and openness to other players. However, some of us like to play survival games without the interference of other players. Below, we will explain how to play alone, because we know how it feels.

If you’re interested in learning more about the Front, you should check out our guides on how to get Resin, Crude Oil, or followers. This guide will show you how to play by yourself in The Front because single-player isn’t really defined in-game.

Doe The Front have a single player option?

Yes you can play single player in The Front but that’s with some strings attached. You’ll need to set up a server that’s private to you, so you’ll have to be online for it. Once you lose an internet connection, that’s it for you, so make sure you’re ready to play the game without going offline.

The only two options for custom servers are Solo/Hosted and Dedicated servers, the latter of which you have to pay for. If you decide to make a solo server, make sure it’s set to PvE and not PvP because PvP servers get wiped every 45 days. That would be really annoying if you get far and come back to a server that has been wiped.

That’s technically single-player, but we know how annoying it can be for those without good internet connections or who don’t want to play with others. Unfortunately, that’s the only way to do it, and the developer doesn’t seem to be vocal about making things easier for players who don’t want to play the game like it’s a multiplayer online game.

The server does go off when you leave and if you change your mind, you can at least invite your friends and they can leave, much like Minecraft’s worlds. However, with the issues with proximity chats, we’d recommend using Discord if you’re interested in that.
